Chef Christyn Johnson is the executive chef at the Whidbey Institute. Christyn has developed a love of abundant, vibrant flavor profiles and has a great reverence for food as an integral part of a healthy, balanced life. Her menus celebrate the bounty of the Institute's organic gardens and local produce within each season. Chef Christyn focuses on food as nourishment; all her meals are seasoned with love to make your taste buds dance with joy.

In her words: "Food is an integral part of life. I am grateful to rejoice in every phase. I honor the earth while getting my hands dirty in the soil of my garden. Then, I honor ourselves while carefully preparing each ingredient to showcase its natural deliciousness. Food is a celebration of our essence. My kitchen is filled with gratitude, light and joy. Our bodies and souls receive that chi along with the nutritional value of the meal."

Chef Christyn's personal journey though food and nourishment includes a long career in fine dining and hospitality as well as vast experience and travel in Global Vegetarian cuisine. She focuses on creating delicious healthful meals that wow guests with or without dietary constraints. Christyn welcomes Raw, Vegan, Gluten-free and Dairy-free food lovers. Christyn is a certified raw chef with over 25 years in the food and hospitality industry.
